Josey, James E.

Mr. Josey served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a resident of New Market, Alabama at the time he entered the Army. He received the Bronze Star Medal with “V” for heroism in Korea on September 19, 1952. He exposed himself to enemy mortar and small arms fire in order retrieve an abandoned machine gun. He then turned it on the enemy suppressing their fire and allowing the wounded soldiers with him to be evacuated. PFC Josey died in a plane crash on January 7, 1953 while still serving in the US Army.
