Robinson, William Jim

WILLIAM “JIM” ROBINSON SERVED WITH THE U.S. ARMY MEDICAL CORPS IN THE REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM AND FOR HIS BRAVE AND COURAGEOUS ACTION ON THE BATTLEFIELD WAS AWARDED THE BRONZE STAR WITH VALOR. THEN SPECIALIST 5 WILLIAM “JIM” ROBINSON DISTINGUISHED HIMSELF FOR VALOR ON AUGUST 17TH 1969 WHILE SERVING AS A MEDIC WITH COMPANY A, 4TH BATTALION, 9TH INFANTRY, 25TH INFANTRY DIVISION. WHILE ESTABLISHED AT FIRE SUPPORT BASE ST. BARBARA, ELEMENTS OF ALPHA COMPANY CAME IN CONTACT WITH A LARGE ENEMY FORCE. DURING THE INITIAL ENCOUNTER, SEVERAL CASUALTIES WERE SUSTAINED. IMMEDIATELY, SPECIALIST ROBINSON, WITH COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR HIS OWN SAFETY, EXPOSED HIMSELF TO THE HAIL OF FIRE AS HE ADMINSTERED FIRSTAID TO HIS FALLEN COMRADES AND EVAUATED THEM TO A SAFE AREA. HIS BRAVERY AND DEVOTION TO DUTY WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR SAVING SEVERAL LIVES ON THAT DAY. HIS HEROIC ACTIONS ARE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE MILITARY SERVICE AND REFLECT GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF, HIS UNIT, THE 25TH INFANTRY DIVISION AND THE UNITED STATES ARMY. JIM AND HIS WIFE, CAROL, HAVE A SON AND THREE GRANDCHILDREN. JIM IS RETIRED NOW AFTER 38 YEARS OF CIVIL SERVICE WORK. HE’S A GOLDWING MOTORCYCLE ENTHUSIAST, LOVES TO SCUBA DIVE, AND PRESENTLY DRIVES A SCHOOL BUS.
