Lacy, Dennis Ross

Specialist Five Lacy distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions on 4 June 1970 while serving as a member of a volunteer fire fighting team. Following the penetration of the perimeter by a Viet Cong sapper force, the fire fighting team assembled and quickly moved into an unsecured area where several buildings were burning uncontrollably. Specialist Five Lacy maneuvered himself into a most effective position and consistently obtained superior results with extinguishing the blaze. Without regard for his own well-being and through diligence and determination he accomplished the mission. Due to Specialist Five Dennis R. Lacy’s disregard for his own safety, heroic actions, exemplary performance under the most adverse conditions, and dedication to the preservation of lives and equipment he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Valor.
