First Lieutenant Tony Koszarsky was awarded the Bronze Metal with V Device for valor while serving as a rifle platoon commander with Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines in the Khe Sanh region of South Vietnam in April 1968. Lt. Koszarsky was born in Bridgeville, PA in 1942 in a family with one younger brother. After graduating from high school in 1960 he attended North Carolina State University on a football scholarship. He graduated in 1965 with a BS degree. In 1966, Lt. Koszarsky received a draft notice and prior to being drafted, Tony enlisted into the USMC / OCS program and reported to Quantico in March 1967. After being commissioned in September 1967 he graduated from the USMC / TBS in late December 1967 and was immediately sent to Vietnam and served as rifle platoon commander with Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines at Khe Sanh. After he was wounded twice Lt. Koszarsky served 4 months as a MACV advisor to the South Vietnamese Army. He completed his Vietnam tour as Assistant Operation Officer with the 9th Marines. After returning to U.S. He was assigned to the Headquarters Company at Quantico where he was the Physical Training Officer for OCS and TBS until he was discharged in October of 1970. Tony Koszarsky and his wife Rosemarie have been married 51 years and live in Madison, AL. They have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren.
