Dadas, Nick G.

Nick G. Dadas was born on 22 April 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio. Nick was performing as a musician prior to enlisting in the Army Air Corps on 7 November 1940. Private Dadas trained as a radio operator and gunner on the B17G Heavy Bomber. Technical Sergeant George Dadas flew combat missions over the European Theater in the B17G during some of the heaviest bombing action of World War II.  T/SGT Dadas was awarded the nation's third highest valor award, the Silver Star, for gallantry in action. T/SGT Dadas also earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for bravery in aerial action during this time. T/SGT Dadas mustered out of the Army Air Corps on 26 September 1944 after recovering from severe illnesses. Nick Dadas lived in the Huntsville, Alabama area until his death on 25 October 2004. Nick is buried in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville.
